Description: The very first release of Gatchaman on any form of home video was by a Japanese film company named Lilli. Like most other compilation or "best of" sets, this release was of the first episode of Gatchaman. The film, which did not contain the entirety of the episode, was in full color with sound. The price of 8mm film was not cheap, reflected in the nearly $100 price tag (in mid 70s dollars to yen) for this single volume. It is a very rare and overlooked part of Gatchaman home video history nowadays. The package was very nice, consisting of a full color heavy cardboard outer sleeve with previously-published artwork, a folding snap closure case box with protective black plastic coating, the film on its own reel , a matching audio cassette of the episode, in case the viewer didn't have a projector capable of playing back the optical soundtrack, a catalogue for other films offered by Lilli, plus folded Gatchaman posters and flyers.
